Spreading Love

My sweet friend lost her dear mom over the weekend.  To brighten her day after the long, grueling day of the funeral, I had the young women and other leaders I work with in my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, write little notes of love and appreciation for my sweet friend and her daughter.

On the day of the funeral, I snuck over to her house with my little 8 yr old and we put them on her door!!

Just one small way to show her how much we love and appreciate her.  I hope it was a little moment of happy in her day.

Ding Dong Ditched

We are working on creating unity in our young women's group at church.  To follow up with our lesson on Sunday, the group I get to work with, 12yr-13yr old girls, did a fun little activity.

I found these cute tags at Poppies at Play and we wrote little notes to each girl in our group and doorbell ditched them!  It was a fun way to let the other girls know we were thinking of them and for the girls doing the ditching it was a fun activity!  So much laughing and encouraging each other to run fast and not get caught!

I had ditched the 12 & 13yr olds earlier in the week to give them a hint at what we would be doing for our activity!

A Dancer's Life

I am a dance mom!!  I love watching our middle daughter express herself through dance.  She is on a competitive team and she is really challenging herself this year doing some harder classes and competing with a higher level team for ballet.  I am proud of her hard work and dedication in a genre she hasn't yet mastered!

As part of team building this year, they do what is called a motivational.  They are little treats with words of encouragement or inspired quotes.  They each take turns doing these little gifts throughout the year!  This time around my daughter wanted to do something with bath bombs!  She is OBSESSED with them!!!  So she came up with this idea!!

"You are the BOMB...Let's DISSOLVE the Competition"    We attached this cute little note to a bath bomb that we wrapped in red tissue paper and tied with white curling ribbon.  It was simple and fun.  The girls loved the bath bombs too...but who doesn't like some relaxing any way right!!!  Here's what the final project looked like!

I love that they are uplifting each other and encouraging everyone to keep going and I hope that this brings them closer as a team.  I love that they can each put their own personality into it!  Can't wait for the next one!!!

Dance Tokens

Competitive dance season is in full swing around here!  For each competition 2 dancers are teamed up to bring "good luck" tokens to share with all of the girls on their teams.  This year Kaylie & I thought it would be fun to make hangers to share.  We designed them to have their studio colors, their names and a little bit of bling!!

These were really easy to make!  I just bought a box of wooden hangers from Target, some spray paint, ribbons, vinyl letters and rhinestones.  I taped off the handles with some blue painters tape and sprayed them all blue.  I let them dry for an hour and then put random sprays of black to lightly cover the blue.  I let that dry for an hour.  Then we put on the lettering for the names and finished with a nice coat of clear lacquer.  Next we added the rhinestones and tied bows around the tops.  I think they turned out great!! They are soo easy!  You can do it too!!!!

Here's a close up view!

Kaylie's 11th Birthday Party

This year for her birthday Kaylie wanted a pool party with her friends.  So we went to the South Jordan Rec Ctr and celebrated!!

Kaylie loves dancing, raspberry sherbet, the color purple and rainbow looming.  She loves going to school, working on her solo and being with her friends.  Her favorite tv shows are Austin & Ally, Liv & Maddy and Once Upon A Time.

These girls were so much fun to be with.  They all played together in the pool & out.  Its so fun to see them growing and becoming fabulous young ladies.  And a little silly!  Swimming, four corners, ice cream cake & lots of laughs!!

Get Loud!!

As part of Kaylie's 11th birthday celebration, I took her to the R5 Concert at the Sandy Ampitheater with our besties, Jaimie & Ella.  The girls danced the night away & rocked out to the music on the Get Loud Tour.  That is them with their arms raised loving every minute!!  I love that they are growing up & becoming themselves.  There is nothing better than being a mother!!  Happy Birthday Kaylie!!

Halloween 2009

Happy Halloween.....This year was Kaylie's first year in elementary school. They have a parade for all of the kids dressed up in their Trick or Treat attire. Kaylie was a Princess this year...I know, what a surprise, but a cute one at that. Grandma Brierley made her costume & she absolutely LOVES it!! She cascaded across the shiny ballroom ( I mean gym) floor, waving as she walked by and smiling to all her adoring fans......or at least anyone who would wave or smile back! It was spectacular. There were so many wonderful costumes..it was quite the parade!!

Kaylie & Josyah....she LOVES this kid...in fact, when she grows up...she is going to marry him!! He is a darling little boy. He is in my primary class & he keeps things lively!
